Frequently Asked Questions: Golden Retriever (Germany → Uruguay)
Can a Golden Retriever fly in the cabin on United Airlines from Germany to Uruguay?
Ineligible: 30 kg Exceeds United Airlines Cabin-Only Cap. United Airlines does not offer civilian checked hold or manifest cargo pet transport, and 30 kg exceeds its 9 kg under-seat cabin limit.
How many days in advance do I need to prepare my Golden Retriever to enter Uruguay from Germany?
Entering Oriental Republic of Uruguay from Germany (Controlled/Low-Risk) requires a strict biological minimum of 31 days and a recommended 45-day pre-clearance lead window via MGAP (Ministerio de Ganadería, Agricultura y Pesca).
Does Uruguay require a Rabies Titer Test (FAVN) or 24–120h Tapeworm treatment from Germany?
No — because Germany is classified as Controlled/Low-Risk, direct travel to Uruguay is exempt from the 90/180-day blood titer wait, requiring a 30-day post-microchip rabies immunity wait. Additionally, dogs must receive Praziquantel tapeworm treatment strictly 24 to 360 hours before landing.
When must Amtsveterinär (Official Vet Office) endorse the health certificate for Uruguay?
Your accredited veterinarian must issue "Certificado Veterinario Internacional MGAP" and obtain official government endorsement from Amtsveterinär (Official Vet Office) within 10 days prior to departure.
